Today’s temperature trend will be a little unusual. Typically, our highest temps are found in the afternoon after a day of heating by the sun. However, today’s highs will more than likely be the temps from early this morning (just after Midnight).
This is because a cold front crossed the area last night. So, a NE wind is gradually ushering slightly cooler air into our area.
Plus, we have lots of clouds around that won’t allow much sunshine to peek through and help warm things up. So, unlike the near record breaking temps yesterday…today’s temps will stay in the 60s. Not as high as the upper 60s we had early this morning, but more-so Low-Mid 60s thru the afternoon due to the stubborn clouds. Although cooler than yesterday, this afternoon will actually be seasonable.
However, the 1st change of the weekend… a warmer & sunnier finish! Notice how temps will warm into the 70s by Sunday. This is because tomorrow brings more sunshine and a return southeasterly wind flow…which will help temps climb back above average. It gets even warmer on Monday with 80s expected ahead of a cold front that won’t cross until Monday night.
The 2nd Change of the weekend will be the BIG change in terms of how long we get to enjoy the sun in the afternoon:
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2AM on Sunday. This means we’ll have earlier sunrises from that point…along with earlier sunsets. The earlier sunsets can be a troubling thing for some of you…since many will have to end their workdays after the sun has set. Yet, the “bright” side is that you get the rising sun earlier in the morning…helpful for the kiddies going off to school.
Regardless, it’s important that you remember to set your clocks BACK 1 hour before bed tonight. The official time change will take place at 2AM Sunday morning…falling back to 1AM. The *perk* in all of this is that we get to enjoy an extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning. Another good thing about Daylight Saving (in general) is that it’s a good reminder to change out the batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, etc.
As far as rain, that will be the least of our worries this weekend. Only isolated light showers or pockets of drizzle are possible today. The better chance for rain will be by Monday evening as a cold front moves into the Region.
Expect all of these elements between today & tomorrow: cloudy, dreary, drizzly, sunshine, cool, warm, breezy, and sunrise & sunset changes … fun right! We’re packing a lot into the weekend.
