Yesterday, was about as wet as expected. We had a lot of rain in the region, but truthfully many were asking for some decent rain lately. We picked up about 1-2″ with a few places getting 2 and a half.
An area of low pressure was forming over our area. It helped to push a cold front through the region. Winds picked up last night as the low started to move north. We had some gusts up to 45mph after midnight. The winds weren’t as strong this morning, but it was breezy. Temps were in the 40s, but some places had wind chills in the 30s early. The low is now moving fast into the northeast states.
They will have lots of rain up there today with gusty winds. High pressure will build in from the southwest into our region today. We already have some clearing, and we’ll see lots of sunshine this afternoon. However, the winds will stay up for a while out of the west/northwest. The winds will keep the temperatures down. Highs will only be in the upper 50s to near 60.
The winds should settle down by tonight. They will be westerly at 5-10mph. Skies will be clear and dew points will be low. So we’ll have another seasonably cold morning. Lows will be in the mid 40s with upper 30s to low 40s inland. High pressure will dominate the weather tomorrow. So we’ll have lots of sunshine. Winds will be light and westerly. High temps will be able to rise into the upper 60s. We might see a couple of 70s inland/south. By the evening temps will fall a bit. We’ll be in the low 60s for the start of trick-or-treating. We’ll drop to the upper 50s by the end.
We’ll steadily warm up through the week. We’ll be in the 70s by Thursday. There will be a little more moisture later this week. So we’ll have some more clouds. A couple of isolated showers are possible, but not likely, between Thursday and Saturday. We’ll have a higher chance for rain on Sunday, but it doesn’t look as wet as yesterday. It’s a ways off though. So stay tuned for updates.
All of this talk about Chilly is making me hungry for… chili. Mmmmm chili….
