What a COLD start to the day! Actual temps dropped into the 20s this morning, but the WINDS made it feel like it was only in the TEENS (below is a snap shot of wind chills from earlier today).
Unfortunately, winds are expected to blow around 15-25mph with higher gusts thru this afternoon. This will keep the wind chill values low and rather uncomfortable throughout the day.
It’ll only feel like the teens thru Midday, and then it’ll feel like the 20s by this afternoon (although highs will reach the upper 30s).
Also, plan on another cold night as lows fall into the upper 20s with wind chills in the low 20s and upper teens:
Thankfully, there are warmer temps within view.
After today, temps warm into the 40s (areawide) by tomorrow…then 50s by Friday as the wind switches from the NW to the SW. This will surely jump-start the warming trend.
So, by Saturday expect a return of 60s as the SW wind continues ahead of an approaching cold front. Once the front crosses, temps fall back to near 50 degrees to wrap up the weekend.
As far as rain, you can count on scattered showers ahead of and along Saturday’s cold front, but until then…expect relatively dry conditions. Today’s precip chances are only 20% for primarily the Northern Neck and the Eastern Shore. Those areas could see isolated flurries or light (and brief) snow showers (no accumulations expected).
