SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk firefighters responded to a two-alarm house fire at the 300 block of Page Place and a house fire in the 1400 block of Sierra Drive Saturday evening.
Dispatchers say the fire on Page Place was called in just after 4 p.m. and the fire on Sierra Drive was called in approximately five minutes after.
Officials say the fire on Page Place was under control just before 5 p.m.
Two adults and one dog have been displaced from the two-story, Page Place home and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Neighbors living near the fire on Page Place say the home was engulfed quickly by flames.
“Before I knew it, it was already… in flames,” said Vicky Jennings, who lives down the street.
Jennings says she was inside when she saw emergency lights flashing through her windows.
When she came outside to look, she was shocked by the destruction.
“Very crazy. I’ve never seen anything like that before, never. If the family needs help, we’re all here for them,” she said.
The occupants of the house made it out. Jennings says she’s grateful for that, but upset the fire happened so close to the holidays.
“The people that l live there, I feel sorry for them. Stuff always bad happens around Christmas time and it’s so sad, but it’s going to be alright,” said Jennings.
There were no injuries reported from either one of the fires, but a resident from Sierra Drive was transported to a local hospital for needed medical supplies that were lost to the fire, according to Suffolk spokesperson Timothy Kelley.
Both fires are still under investigation to find out what caused them.
