UPDATE: (Dec. 15, 2017) — Two 17-year-old males have been charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Daquan D. Davis.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) —  Norfolk police say they’re investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday afternoon in the Ballentine Place section of the city.

Just after 2 p.m., police say they responded to the 2800 block of Harrell Avenue for a gunshot disturbance call.

When authorities arrived, they found a man outside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died shortly after being taken to Sentara Norfolk General.

The victim was later identified as 19-year-old Daquan D. Davis.

Neighbors say they heard about a dozen shots from more than one gun, from behind a vehicle and from the home where the man was found outside.

One resident who’s lived in the neighborhood for more than 12 years told 10 On Your Side’s Joe Fisher that she ran inside for safety after bullets started flying, and watched the man die from her window.

Police say they’ll release the man’s identity as soon as next of kin have been notified.

No suspect information or motive has been released at this time, but police encourage anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1 (888) LOCK-U-UP.
