NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of W. 29th Street, according to dispatchers.
There was one victim involved.
The call came in after 3 p.m. dispatchers said.
10 On Your Side spoke with neighbors who say they heard three to four gunshots.
“Just pop, pop, pop, pop. I ran to the window and there was someone laying on the ground,” said one resident, who did not want to be identified.
The resident says he saw a number of people standing over the victim and helping him out until Norfolk Police arrived on scene.
Witnesses say they saw paramedics take the victim away in an ambulance.
Another neighbor, who was walking home at the time, told 10 On Your Side that she wasn’t surprised the shooting happened because of all the violence that goes on in the neighborhood.
“Pain is common in the area,” she said.
The resident says she hopes local leaders can come together and help curb violence by helping out the youth.
“Our youth really don’t have anything to do. We need basketball courts. We need music studios. We need something to keep our youth involved,” she said.
10 On Your Side is working to find out the victim’s condition.
