School bus, tractor-trailer involved in accident in Norfolk; 4 students taken to hospital

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say four students were taken to the hospital after their school bus and a tractor-trailer were involved in an accident Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. at 38th and Killam Ave. The bus, which was carrying 47 students and four adults from ODU Education Day, was stopped to allow the tractor-trailer to make a turn.

Police say the tractor-trailer then sideswiped the bus as it was turning onto Killam Ave. Four students, who were all 9 years old, complained of injuries and were taken to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters as a precautionary measure.

The bus sustained minor damage and no other injuries were reported.
