Police: Two people shot Friday afternoon in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say two people were shot in the city Friday afternoon.

Police say the shooting happened shortly after 4:15 in the 1500 block of Spruce Street, not far from Coleman Place Elementary School. When police arrived, they say they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Around 4:30, police say they were then called to Larkin Street and Kennon Avenue, located just a few steps away, for a man suffering from a gunshot wound.  Police say that man was also taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Detectives believe both men were shot in the 1500 block of Spruce Street, and that the second man fled the scene before police arrived.
