Philadelphia man killed in hit-and-run crash in Norfolk

Norfolk police respond to an accident near Chrysler Hall.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Philadelphia man was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash in Norfolk.

Norfolk police shut down part of St. Pauls Boulevard, near Scope Arena, following the crash.

Police were called to the scene just after 10:40 p.m. Once there, they found a man lying unconscious in the middle of the intersection of St. Pauls and E. Charlotte Street.

Medical care was provided, but police said the man died at the scene. The suspect vehicle had left the scene before police arrived.

Police later identified John Cutillo III, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the victim of this crash.

Detectives are now looking for a Red Jeep believed to have been involved in the crash. Police say an investigation found the Jeep was driving recklessly and hit Cutillo as he was trying to cross St. Pauls — and did not stop.

A second vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, inadvertently hit Cutillo as he was lying in the roadway, police say. That driver stayed at the scene.

The red Jeep should have front-end damage, according to police. Call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP if you know anything.
