Wells Fargo branch robbed in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Portsmouth say a Wells Fargo on High Street was robbed Monday afternoon.

Police tweeted Monday that officers were called the bank around 12:40 p.m. According to police, the suspect came into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller gave the suspect an unknown amount of money and he then fled the scene.

No one was injured during the robbery, according to the tweet. There is no word on a possible suspect or suspects.

The suspect is being described as black and in his late 40s or early 50s. He is around 5’7″ and weights about 180 pounds. During the robbery, the suspect was wearing sungladdes, a gray baseball cap, a navy blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
