Suspect in custody after hours-long standoff in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect was taken into custody late Monday night after a standoff that lasted over six hours in Virginia Beach.

According to police, officers tried to serve a warrant in the 5500 block of Keydet Drive around 4 p.m. Police say the suspect refused to come out of the residence.

Officers worked to negotiate with the suspect. A SWAT team responded to assist.

Police say the suspect — a juvenile — was taken into custody just after 10:30 p.m. The suspect is facing charges of robbery and use of a firearm.
