PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in an industrial accident at East Coast Repair and Fabrication, according to police.
Emergency crews responded to the 3400 block of Shipwright Road at 3:31 p.m.
Portsmouth police tell WAVY.com that a man in his 50s had his legs “clinched” between a concrete pylon and a tug boat that was being moved for repair. In the process of moving the boat, police say the man got stuck.
The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
On its website, East Coast Repair and Fabrication says it “specializes in ship repair and construction.”
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating.
