PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – A flooding incident Monday has forced the Pasquotank County Courthouse to temporarily close.
According to Maintenance Director Vincent Freeman, the flooding issue was caused by a pipe that burst. The pipe burst in the HVAC system over the weekend, causing lots of water in two offices and a few hallways of the courthouse.
The flooding was discovered Sunday. According to Freeman, it was contained to the clerk’s office and the finance office.
“We just [closed] for safety reasons so that we could get it cleaned up and get everything out of the way so that people could walk through and be safe.”
10 On Your Side was told no documents were destroyed by the water and the courthouse will be open tomorrow.
The courthouse will be open Tuesday.
