Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-664 north at the MMMBT

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 664 north at the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel.

Virginia State Police were called to investigate a multi-vehicle crash on I-664 north, just south of exit 7, at about 9:19 p.m. Saturday.

Police said 25-year-old Reginald Jordan Jones II, of the 200 block of Marcella Road in Hampton, was speeding when he tried to pass a Toyota Echo on the left shoulder. Jones hit the jersey wall and rear-ended the Toyota. He was ejected from the motorcycle and died.

Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Drivers were detoured from I-664 north to the James River Bridge for several hours while the interstate was shut down. The interstate reopened shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.
