Five-year-old boy injured in Newport News triple shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A five-year-old boy was among three people shot Friday night in Newport News.

Emergency crews were called to the 700 block of 35th Street around 8:43 p.m. When officers got to the scene, they found two adults and a five-year-old shot.

One of the victims was a 23-year-old Newport News man, who had been shot in the lower torso area. The five-year-old boy had a gunshot wound to the right foot.

Both victims were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Two apartments and a parked vehicle were also hit by the gunshots.

Police say possible eyewitnesses reported seeing a dark blue-colored sedan with people inside firing multiple gunshots nearby the victims. The vehicle left the scene, heading east on 35th Street.

Police later released an image of the car suspected in the shooting.
