Waterside District evacuated Friday after fire alarm goes off

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Waterside District evacuated for a short time after a fire alarm went off Friday night.

Officials said the area was building evacuated around 11:30 p.m. while units investigated.Officials say dust from construction likely set off fire alarm. The alarm appeared to be routine and came from an alarm placed in the building’s heating and air conditioning system.

Waterside officially opened to the public on Thursday afternoon.
