SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was arrested Tuesday in connection to a homicide in Suffolk.

Police spokesperson Diana Klink says officers were called to a home on Adrianne Court in the Magnolia Lakes Trailer Park just after 6:00 a.m.

Klink says officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead on the way to the hospital.

Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Tyrone Lee Bailey, of Chesapeake.

28-year-old Troyonne Markest Ellis, also of Chesapeake, has been arrested. He’s charged with second-degree murder, armed burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other and this is considered a domestic incident.

Neighbor Brittanni Phillips said the scene was an unusual sight to wake up to on Tuesday.

“I looked outside and the whole street was covered with police cars and detective cars,” she said.

Phillips says she then realized they were at the mobile home next door.

“My daughter came out of the room and she said, ‘Mom, I just saw a guy on a stretcher,'” Phillips said.

Neighbors say a single mom has lived in the home with her young son for the last eight years.

“She was a really sweet lady,” Phillips said. “She’s probably like 26. She is close to my age. She’s really sweet.”
