Woman seriously hurt in Gloucester multi-vehicle accident

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — One person was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle accident on Route 198 at Freeport Road

Virginia State Police say a woman, identified as Sarah Lynne Workman, was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

According to state police, Pamela Hogge Farinholt was driving a 2007 Chrysler 300 and pulled out from Freeport Road onto westbound Dutton Road in front of Workman.

Workman swerved into the eastbound lane to avoid hitting Farinholt. Workman tried getting back into the westbound lane, but lost control. State police say her Honda slid into the eastbound lane, and the car was hit in its passenger side by Kenneth Hudgins, who was driving a 2016 Ford F-150 truck.

Patricia Sutton was driving a 2016 Honda HR-V behind Hudgins. She moved over to avoid the crash, but when Hudgins hit Workman’s vehicle, the truck shifted and ended up hitting Sutton, too.

Workman was the only person injured.

State police say no charges have been filed at this time.
