Three dogs, rabbit and pig rescued from Portsmouth house fire

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Several pets were rescued from a house fire in Portsmouth on Wednesday.

The fire was reported in the 700 block of City Park Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

Fire Chief Jim Hoffler said the fire was under control within 20 minutes. No one was injured, but two people were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting them.

Hoffler said three dogs, a rabbit and a pig also got out of the home safely.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
