Suspect arrested after police pursuit from Portsmouth to Suffolk

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A man was arrested after a police pursuit led to a crash late Friday night.

Police say the chase began in the 1200 block of Frederick Boulevard at 11:45 p.m. The driver led authorities through Portsmouth down High Street, eventually crossing into the City of Chesapeake. The suspect continued through Chesapeake on Western Branch Boulevard, heading into Suffolk.

The driver kept going down Bridge Road, hit a vehicle stopped at a red light at Shoulders Hill and Bridge roads and finally crashed at Bennett’s Creek Landing and Bridge Road.

The driver of the vehicle hit at the red light was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody. Police identified him as 29-year-old Dave A. Frazier, Jr.

Frazier was charged with felony eluding, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and driving on a revoked license. He also had an outstanding warrant from Norfolk.
