HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police officers responded to the scene of a reported barricade situation Wednesday, according to a tweet from police officials.

The situation was along Smiley Road, where police say a subject was barricaded. Police were alerted to the situation shortly after 11:50 a.m for a domestic disturbance. When police got to the scene, they tried to make contact with those inside the residence, but were unsuccessful.

For safety reasons, police say officers set up a perimeter around the residence. After further investigation and speaking with everyone involved, it was determined that no crime had occurred. Officers then left the scene.

10 On Your Side’s Kara Dixon reported the situation was over less than an hour after Hampton police’s tweet.
