Churchland H.S. athletic director placed on leave

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – 10 On Your Side has confirmed Churchland High School athletic director David Moss has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation into complaints made by parents.

10 On Your Side’s Deanna LeBlanc spoke with three parents who have daughters on the junior varsity cheerleading team. They, along with other parents on the team, went to school administrators after they believe Moss walked into the girl’s locker room unannounced.

Moss told LeBlanc he is aware of the parent complaints, but says they are not true. He claims he just held the locker room door open to allow the visiting team to enter.

In a statement, a Portsmouth Public Schools spokeswoman says, “We’re aware of the parents’ concerns, and the school division has launched an investigation. Mr. Moss has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is going on.”

A school spokeswoman could not comment on how long the investigation might take.
