VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — VDOT will temporarily close Saville Garden Way for two days starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20.
During the closure, crews will install storm drains and utilities in preparation for the new roadway on Holland Road.
Local traffic can use Chestnut Oak Way, English Oak Court or Berry Garden Way to access the Saville Garden Way neighborhoods and Holland Road.
Drivers traveling on Holland Road will not be affected.
As construction moves along the corridor from Dam Neck Road to Nimmo Parkway, traffic will be shifted as sections of temporary and new pavement are completed. Lane closures, will only happen during off-peak hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., weather conditions permitting.
The reduced 35 mile per hour speed limit remains in effect throughout the work zone.
The Holland Road Connection Project started in Spring 2015 and is expected to be finished in October 2017. The project spans 2.5 miles and will increase road capacity from the existing two lane road to a new four lane, divided roadway connecting Dam Neck Road to Nimmo Parkway.
