YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters extinguished a house fire in the Queens Lake subdivision in York County Thursday.

Around 1:30 p.m., fire crews were called to a house fire in the 100 block of Little John Road.

A York-Poquoson Sheriff’s deputy was the first on scene and helped two elderly people get out of the home. The blaze was contained to the one room and was quickly extinguished.

The two residents were evaluated by medics at the scene, but did not require a hospital visit.

The fire caused smoke and heat damage to some areas of the home.
