Firefighters respond to Portsmouth house fire

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Crews extinguished a house fire in Portsmouth Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers got a call about smoke coming from a home in the 900 block of Palmer Street at 10:05 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire in the home’s attached garage area, which was under construction. Crews forced their way into the home, found the flames and got the fire under control in about 10 minutes.

Firefighters searched the home and didn’t find anyone inside. No one was injured.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
