One person transported after Berkley Bridge crash

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One person was taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after two vehicles crashed on the Berkley Bridge in Norfolk.

Virginia State Police were called around 1:36 p.m. and were alerted that two cars were stuck on the rail with people trapped inside their vehicles.

The call prompted an emergency response and technical rescue.

State police dispatchers could not clarify how many people were stuck.

One person was transported to Norfolk Sentara General with unknown injuries.

According to VDOT, three lanes were shutdown as crews worked to clear the scene.
