Man arrested in connection to string of Bertie County break-ins

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for allegedly breaking into a home Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, residents of the Colerain and Merry Hill areas of Bertie County have reported several break-ins since early November. Items were taken out of yards, vehicles were broken into and there were 14 home break-ins.

On Monday, deputies responded to Black Rock Road after they were alerted of a break-in. Someone was able to identify the vehicle seen driving away from the home, and investigators were able to trace it to Kirklin Williams.

Warrants were taken out against Williams for breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering. He was arrested on Thursday and was given $30,000 secured bond.
