NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia Beach man was cited Friday morning for bringing a loaded handgun to Norfolk International Airport.
Security detected the gun as he passed through a checkpoint. The man had a 9 mm caliber handgun.
The gun was loaded with eight bullets, including one in the chamber, according to TSA officials.
A Norfolk man was caught with a loaded gun at the airport several hours later, and was arrested by airport police. Officials say the gun was loaded with nine bullets.
TSA officials say these two incidences raises the number of detections of firearms at the airport to 13 in 2016. By comparison, TSA officers seized 16 guns in 2015.
