Lake Taylor hoops gets ready for showdown against Oak Hill

NORFOLK (WAVY) — Friday night at Scope, the nation’s second ranked high school basketball team will be in Norfolk when Oak Hill Academy will take on the Lake Taylor Titans in an 8 o’clock tip.

Lake Taylor is one of the top public school teams in the state and the Titans made it all the way to the 4A state finals last year.
Oak Hill, a prep school in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia is a basketball factory and features two players from Hampton Roads, senior guard Matt Coleman and junior David McCormack. Coleman used to play at Maury, McCormack at Norfolk Academy.

Lake Taylor coach Kenny Brown and his squad are excited and anxious about tomorrow’s opportunity.

“I think the kids are so excited that they have nervous energy,” said Lake Taylor coach Kenny Brown.

“On social media they are talking like we are going to lose by a lot,” said Lake Taylor junior Joe Bryant. “But I think we are going to come out and play as hard as we can and just give them a competition that they’ve never seen before.”

Before the Oak Hill-Lake Taylor game, a girls game between Maury and Booker T. Washington followed by a boys contest between Maury and Booker T. Washington.
