NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Environmental Protection Agency says it is donating 120 laptops to Newport News schools.

According to a news release from the EPA, the laptops are being donated to keep harmful electronics out of the environment — and put them to use in schools.

“Donating or recycling consumer electronics like laptop computers conserves our natural resources and avoids air and water pollution, as well as greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by manufacturing raw materials,” said EPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin.
