PORTSMOUTH (WAVY) — He built a program from scratch, leaping from FCS to FBS and now to Old Dominion’s first bowl appearance.
Bobby Wilder has been wildly successful as ODU head football coach, and with that success comes intrigue from other programs.
Several medial outlets have reported that Wilder is being considered for the vacant head coaching position at Temple of the American Athletic Conference.
“It’s an honor to be considered for other jobs,” Wilder told the Sportswrap. “It’s an honor to be mentioned but I love where I’m at right now. I love what I’m doing and I am having the time of my life with these players. This is the most special year I’ve been apart of in 30 years of coaching and I love it here.”
The Monarchs were picked to finish 6th in the Conference USA’s East Division, but Wilder’s team surprised the preseason prognosticators by going 7-1 in league play and 9-3 overall.
ODU plays Eastern Michigan on December 23rd in the Bahamas Bowl.
