Suspects sought after Chesapeake officers chase 2 cars

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police say they are looking for suspects after two cars led officers on a chase early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to Longdale Crescent around 4:20 a.m. after receiving a report of suspicious persons looking through vehicles. That report didn’t shock neighbors.

“Sometimes, when you come outside in the morning, everything from your glove box is scattered outside of your car and some of it is in the street,” Sherrick Freeman said.

Police say the officers saw two cars leaving the area when they arrived on scene. Both cars came up as stolen after officers ran a check, according to police.

Officers chased one of the cars to Campostella Road and Hemple Street, where it became disabled in a ditch. The suspects inside the car ran from the scene.

Police say investigators are following leads for these suspects. It is unconfirmed how many suspects are being sought.

Police chased the second car until it became disabled in the 500 block of Conservancy Drive. Two male juveniles were taken into custody after a short foot chase; all while neighbors woke up in Culpepper Landing.

“There were some police cars all over Conservancy Drive,” Lynn Stallcop said. “There were some in the construction zone. They were obviously looking for somebody.”

The suspects from the first car have not been caught.
