Shooting at Beach mobile home park leaves man dead

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man was killed in a shooting at the Tapo mobile home park Friday.

At 7:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1300 block of Hawk Avenue. When police arrived on scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim was identified Monday as 34-year-old Zacarias Aguilar-Ayala.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m worried,” neighbor Doris Jayo said.

This was the first of two shootings in Virginia Beach within about a half hour Friday. Just over a mile away, someone was shot on Dory Drive near the Waterfront apartments.

It’s not clear if the two shootings are connected.
