Overnight crash involving overturned truck in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police are investigating an overnight crash involving a box truck that flipped on its side.

It happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday on Azalea Garden and Robin Hood Roads in the Estabrook neighborhood. Images from the scene appeared to show an overturned box truck and a sedan with front-end damage.

Paramedics took at least one person to the hospital. Police have not said how the crash happened.

The intersection was closed for a while Tuesday morning as police investigated the crash. It has since been reopened to traffic.

WAVY photographer Walter Hildebrand reported Tuesday morning that he helped one person get out of the overturned truck.

The accident happened not far from where police are investigating one of two overnight homicides.
