Man caught with loaded gun at NN/Williamsburg International Airport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Officials say a man tried to bring a loaded gun onto a plane Monday at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at an airport checkpoint detected the 9 mm semi-automatic handgun loaded with 17 rounds in the man’s carry-on bag on the X-ray monitor.

TSA officers immediately contacted Newport News police, who responded and took the gun and ammunition. The man was cited on a state weapons charge.
