Man dies in crash on I-64 west in James City County

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police say a man was killed Tuesday in single-vehicle crash in James City County.

The accident happened around 7:40 p.m. on Interstate 64 west at mile marker 237, just east of Barlow Road in York County.

State police say a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on I-64, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 32-year-old Tramaine LaShawn Bethune, of Henrico, was the only person inside the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Bethune was not wearing a seat belt. Police say it’s not clear at this time if alcohol contributed to the crash.
