Teens charged for firearm theft at Bass Pro Shops

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Two teenagers are facing charges for a burglary at the Bass Pro Shops in Hampton.

Police received an alarm activation at the business on Powhatan Parkway just before 2 a.m. Monday.  When officers arrived, they spotted two people running and took off after them. Both suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

According to police, the suspects broke through a glass door on the side of the store, then stole several firearms, which were recovered during their arrest.

The 16-year-old and 17-year-old Hampton teens were each charged with burglary, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. They remain in custody at the Newport News Secure Detention.
