Five teens apprehended after police pursuit ends in crash

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Five teens were involved in pursuit through two cities that ended in a crash Monday, police say.

At 5:00 p.m., officers saw a vehicle in the area of Berkley Avenue and Bethel Road in Chesapeake. The vehicle had been reported stolen, according to police. The officer followed the vehicle into Norfolk and called for additional units to respond. When more police arrived, they tried to pull the vehicle over, but the vehicle wouldn’t stop. A pursuit started at Canton Street and Walton Street in Norfolk.

The chase ended in the 3600 block of Robin Hood Road in Norfolk, where the vehicle overturned after hitting a 2012 Honda.

Five juveniles, who were all between the ages of 14 and 15-years-old, were apprehended on scene. They were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda was also transported for minor injuries.

Norfolk police will be pursuing charges against the teens.
