HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton man has been arrested and charged with abducting and trying to rob a man Monday.

At 5:51 a.m., dispatchers received a call about someone being held at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, located in the 1900 block of Coliseum Drive. Officers responded and found the victim, a 36-year-old man, who said he had been robbed. He gave police a description of the suspect. Authorities found the suspect, who they identified as 22-year-old Erick Allen Osby, in the area. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police say their investigation revealed that the suspect and victim knew each other. The suspect approached the victim, displayed a gun and demanded money, according to police. The victim was then forced into the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect drove to the victim’s home on Cunningham Drive to get cash. The victim was once again forced into the suspect’s vehicle and was brought back to the Red Roof Inn. That’s when a witness called police.

Police say nothing was taken from the victim and no one was hurt in the incident.

Osby, of the 600 block of Lee Street, was charged with one count of attempted robbery, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and two counts of abduction. He is in custody at the Hampton City Jail.
