It looked like Hampton had pulled out a second straight one-point playoff win. Dazz Newsome reached up and hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass to put the Crabbers ahead of Norview 31-30 with just :40 seconds left to go.
But Norview ended up celebrating a 37-31 win, thanks to a Darriel Mack touchdown pass to Kavon Lawson with just :07 seconds left on the clock. Norview is moving on to the state semifinal round of the playoffs, while the Crabbers’ season is over.
Meanwhile, Lake Taylor’s season also came to an end with a 29-15 loss at Dinwiddie. The Titans (11-2), who’d been on a 11-game win streak since their season-opening loss to Heritage, took a 15-14 lead in the third quarter, thanks to a Rashawn Griffin sprint to the endzone.
Dinwiddie took a 22-15 lead with 2:35 left in the fourth quarter, and then sealed the win with an interception for a touchdown.
