Disaster centers to open in Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Hampton Monday

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – New Disaster Recovery Centers in Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Hampton will officially open on Monday at 1 p.m..

The Disaster Centers will operate regular hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Tuesday through Sunday. The centers will be open seven days a week until further notice.

Governor Terry McAulifffe announced last Saturday that Hampton, Portsmouth and Suffolk were approved for FEMA Disaster Aid. 

The Norfolk and Chesapeake Disaster Centers will be closed permanently. The Virginia Beach Disaster center will remain open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday at the 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd. location.

You don’t need to visit a DRC to register for federal assistance. Survivors can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov, on the FEMA Mobile App or by calling 800-621-3362. TTY users can call 800-462-7585. Phone lines are open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. until further notice.
