CHESAPEAKE (WAVY) – In a pleasant post-game exchange, Oscar Smith head coach Bill Dee told Woodside head man Danny Dodson, he wasn’t sure if the Tigers would be able to slow down the Wolverines’ offense.
As it turned out, Oscar Smith did more than slow it down in Friday night’s state quarterfinal showdown. The Tigers (12-1) held the Wolverines (10-3) without a point in a 13-0 win.
DeAngelo White scored on a 35-yard sprint to start the scoring, while Shon Mitchell found Khalik Perry in the second quarter for the second and final score.
Mitchell, who broke the Virginia High School League record for career passing yards last week, tied the VHSL record for career touchdown passes.
