Police: Hampton shooting was self-inflicted

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man was injured after he shot himself in Hampton Wednesday evening.

Dispatchers received a call at 4:56 p.m. about a “man down” in the parking lot of the Relax Inn, located in the 2700 block of W. Mercury Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man lying in the parking lot of the hotel with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. His condition was upgraded to stable around 6:30 p.m.

This shooting was determined to be self-inflicted.
