NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — All travel lanes have reopened on both sides of Virginia Beach Boulevard underpass in Norfolk.

City officials said Wednesday that public works crews finished repairs to a water pump station, which was drenched in October by Hurricane Matthew.

The underpass was completely flooded, making the road impassable. City officials said the pump could not handle the pressure during the storm, likely because of an electrical system failure.

City officials say one lane at the Brambleton Avenue underpass remains closed.

The city is hoping to have the lane reopened in the next few weeks.
