Va. Beach car dealership placed off-limits to service members

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A local Virginia Beach car dealership has been placed on the off-limits list for all Hampton Roads service members, according to the Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic.

Navy officials say US Auto Excellence participates in unfair business practices as well as an illegal practice known as bird-dogging. This is where someone refers a possible customer to a dealer or salesman for a given fee or compensation.

Officials say US Auto Excellence will remain on this list until the next meeting of the Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board. Teh board recommended on Nov. 7 that the dealership be added to the off-limits list.

Any business on the off-limits list is given a chance to submit in writing that corrective actions have occurred. The off-limits list currently includes:

  • The Vault, 86 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton
  • The Vault, 15435-B Warwick Blvd., Newport News
  • The Vault, 4746 George Washington Memorial Hwy., Hayes, Va.
  • Unwind, 731 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Ste. B, Newport News
  • Unwind, 389 W. 21st St., Norfolk
  • US Auto Excellence, 3336 Holland Road, Virginia Beach
