Tidewater Drive back open after accident brings down power lines

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A car accident brought down power lines in Norfolk Monday afternoon.

Dispatchers say the crash happened around 12:41 p.m., in the 7400 block of Tidewater Drive.

Police say a woman was driving southbound on Tidewater when she side swiped another vehicle heading the same direction and then hit a power pole. The pole was split in half. No one reported any injuries.

The woman who hit the power pole was issued a summons for following too closely.

Tidewater Drive was closed in the area for several hours. It reopened around 5:30 p.m.
