DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) — A man wanted for a 2014 homicide outside a fast food restaurant in Duplin County, North Carolina has finally been caught.
Isaiah Smith, 26, was nabbed Friday evening in Fayetteville during a traffic stop by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Smith was wanted for the February 13, 2014 shooting death of McKinley Beaty, Jr. The 21-year-old Norfolk man’s body was found in front of the KFC on Highway 24 outside of Warsaw. He had been shot multiple times.
Co-defendant James Newton was captured several weeks after the shooting in a Santa Barbara, California hotel. Authorities say both men are from Sampson County, North Carolina.
Smith has a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
