Hampton PD: Suspects arrested in Kensington Drive shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested two suspects in connection to a burglary and shooting last week.

At 12:56 a.m. Thursday, dispatchers received multiple calls for a shooting that had just happened in the 1900 block of Kensington Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they found two men outside a home with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say further investigation revealed that two suspects, Demetrius Xavier Benthall and Kaseon Lee, tried to force their way into a home on Kensington Drive while armed with guns. Benthall and Lee then got into a struggle with the two victims, a 26-year-old and a 29-year-old from Hampton. That’s when the victims were shot.

Police said Monday that Benthall, 20, was arrested and charged with of burglary while armed and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Tuesday, police said Lee, 25, has been arrested for burglary while armed and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
