Man shot inside Norfolk McDonald’s

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police are investigating a shooting that happened at a McDonald’s restaurant in the 700 block of North Newtown Road Saturday evening.

Dispatch says the emergency call came in at 11:29 p.m. When police arrived on scene at the McDonald’s, they found a man in his twenties inside of the restaurant suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was taken by paramedics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, however he is expected to be okay.

Police say the victim and another man were involved in a verbal argument when the shot was fired.  The shooting suspect then fled the scene before police arrived.

“We take the safety of our employees and customers very seriously and are working with the proper authorities to assist in their investigation,” said Newlands Management Corporation, a local McDonald’s franchise organization.
