VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach has announced that it has a new emergency notification alert and warning system — and that current users must re-register for it.

The city says VBAlert will be used to inform the public with emergency-related warnings and notifications to their home and mobile phones as well as email.

Current residents’ information and passwords were transferable to the new system.

Anyone who wants to get emergency alerts can signup at www.vbgov.com/vbalert.
